About trailcam.org

TrailCam.org is a group of wildlife enthusiasts located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. We are passionate about the outdoors and are fortunate to be surrounded by incredible wildlife and breathtaking landscapes.

Our website serves as a platform to showcase our findings and share our passion for wildlife photography.

Throughout the years, we have tested and experimented with over 150 trail cameras of different makes and models, ranging from cheap to expensive and everything in between.

As a result, we have gained extensive knowledge and can confidently distinguish between a high-quality camera and a subpar one.

Unfortunately, we have also encountered many heartbreaking incidents where our cameras were lost in wildfires or destroyed by curious critters such as bears. Additionally, many others were damaged or stolen by two-legged predators.

Our objective is to provide unbiased reviews and ratings of trail cameras and accessories, educate about wildlife and conservation, and share our pictures and videos captured with our trail cameras.

Our Reviews, Ratings & Ethics Policy

We assure you that our reviews and ratings are unbiased and not influenced by any commercial interests. Unlike other websites, we don't sell trail cameras, which allows us to remain unbiased. It makes no difference to us which game camera you choose.

Furthermore, we do not accept any compensation in exchange for reviews and ratings, so you can trust that anything with a star or rating has not been paid for.

We purchase nearly all the products we review from regular retailers or manufacturers, ensuring we pay the same price as any other customer. We do not receive any special pricing discounts or other perks.

At times, we may receive new products from companies free of charge. However, we assure you that we follow the same review and scoring standards for these products, and this doesn't influence our testing or scoring process.

We use a scale from 0 to 100 points to rate products, which is divided into various categories with a maximum of 20 points for the overall design and detection range and 10 points for the remaining categories. Our detection range score is calculated by awarding one point for every five feet, with a maximum of 20 points for cameras with a range of 100 feet or more. Additionally, we rate image quality based on daylight, lowlight, and nighttime performance.
